[TW; 2013] Living in Taiwan Series | Luodong 羅東

(This will be a 2 part series consisting Luodong and Hualien)
This was our short gateway plan from Taipei: Taipei - Luodong - Hualien - Taipei

This Luodong post will consist the following places:
  1. Luodong Night Market
  2. 國立傳統藝術中心 National Center for Traditional Arts
Decided to give Luodong Night Market a second chance... so embarked a journey to Luodong!

1. Taipei Bus Interchange > Luodong Train Station

^^Based on our research, taking a bus from Taipei Bus Interchange to Luodong Train Station is cheaper and faster compared to train!
Kamalan Bus 葛瑪蘭汽車客運, www.kamalan.com.tw, ticketing counter and boarding area Level4 of Taipei Bus interchange, NT$135 approx 70mins ride.
^^The back entrance of Luodong Train Station

2. Luodong Train Station > 幸福YES!

The very nice owner came down to the train station and drove us over to the stay location! His name is 小周.

^^The stay is on 安平路 and they have such a cute signboard!

^^Not sure is this owned by the owner but this how the first level of the building look like and the stairs is right beisde this.

^^Pretty blue room!
Really like the design and concept of the room and made me really happy living in such a comfortable and clean place! The friendly 小周 introduced Luodong Night Market for us and also places within and outskirts of Luodong. He actually offered to drive us to 國立傳統藝術中心 the next day but... we were too shy to take up the offer. Heehee! He mentioned that he will go out regularly to take photos for his blog, so if you are interested to join a local travel around luodong, this stay place will definitely be the best choice!
Happiness YES! 幸福YES!, https://www.facebook.com/good.happiness.yes, 地中海雙人房 Mediterranean double bedroom, NT$1500/平日 Normal day.

3. 幸福YES! > Luodong Night Market

^^Luodong Night Market on a weekday! It was not crowded at all.

A) 三星蔥餅 Spring Onion Biscuit

^^The stall with the longest queue

^^Spring onions as fillings.

1 For NT$35, 3 For NT$100. A very special taste but I will not queue again to buy it cause I do not like the bitterly taste after the few bites. If you adore spring onions then you will love this!

B) 卜鴨 Deep Fried Duck Meat

^^Deep fried duck meat with beehoon

NT$40 for a bowl! The deep fried duck meat was tender and had this sweet taste... I really like this! But the soup base and noodles were abit tasteless so I would just recommend just having the meat alone.

C) 小春's 卜肉 Deep Fried Chicken

^^Deep Fried Chicken
This stall had the longest queue and 小周 recommended us this stall. The tip 小周 gave us was to buy those with the longest queue around 10pm. Anyway the meat was very sweet and it is like finger food where you can't stop having it. Highly recommended!

D) 魏姐包心 Wei Heart

^^Soya Beancurd with Icecream and a bowl of Pearls NT$70~80.

小周highly recommended us to try this... I think there is alot of 魏姐 outlets in the Night Market and we did not went to the outlet he recommended because there were no seats provided. What was special is the PEARLS, the others are all side dishes! It is not those ordinary bubble tea pearls but pearls with fillings inside them. I would recommend to try as it is something different from what we used to know.

4. Luodong Night Market > 幸福YES! > Luodong Bus Station

The next day we checked out at 10am and walked to the train station to put our luggage into the luggage locker.
^^The sign to take the bus at the train station

After that we walked over to the back entrance and crossed the road to the bus station.
^^The side of the bus station to take the bus to 國立傳統藝術中心

^^The bus timetable; but if I'm not wrong, buses towards the 國立傳統藝術中心 have a 30mins interval.

It is like a small shutter bus to bring you to the different places around luodong like 親子公園 and 國立傳統藝術中心 etc. Different stops have different pricing; when you tap the Easycard upon boarding the basic fare NT$22 will be deducted and when you tap the Easycard while alighting the card will deduct the distance fare. For 國立傳統藝術中心, the total fare is NT$25. Bus ride around 20minutes.

5. Luodong Bus Staion > 國立傳統藝術中心
^^View on the bus; Spring Onion Plantation?

^^Entrance of the 國立傳統藝術中心

^^NT$150/entry, NT$100/entry for special people like me!
國立傳統藝術中心 National Center for Traditional Arts, www.ncfta.gov.tw
The purpose of coming here was because 小周 mentioned that there was a movie filming going on in the center! fangirl mode on!

^^Big banners of the movie around some parts of the center to avoid fangirlsvisitors from entering the filming site.

^^Lucky draw box to win the movie tickets!

^^A peak of the filming site

Abit disappointed cause we did not manage to see any stars... ): Nevertheless... I will still do an introduction on the center!

A) Exhibition Hall 展示館

^^The entrance of the exhibition hall to see traditional art pieces

As no photography is allowed in the exhibition hall... so the highlight of the exhibition is this:
^^A tree made using 15kg of pure gold!

B) Snack Bar 小吃坊

^^The food center selling all kinds of Ilan specialists

^^懷舊鐵路便當 Railway Bento NT$129

C) Scholar Huang's Residence 黃舉人宅

^^Traditional house

^^Some exhibition items inside the house; a very informative trip!

^^Golden pig outside the house!

D) Mutsai Kiln 目仔窯

^^Mutsai Kiln

^^Giraffe Seats!

E) Education Boulevard 傳習街

^^Street view

F) Waterfront Boulevard 臨水街

^^The door where you suppose to get smarter after entering

^^Some exhibitions on some traditional customs

^^Street view

Quite a big area to see and walk; approx spent 3hrs over there. I still have a lot more photos but I decided I shall share till here. If you're interested in chinese traditional customs and art, this will be a place for you. This is also a good place for photoshoot!

This wraps up my trip down to Luodong and... coming up is Hualien!
