[TW; 2013] CNY Travels | Taichung

DESTINATION 3: TAICHUNG

#1 SML > Taichung HSR
The bus station was just a stone away from our hotel.

Confirmed with the staff the earliest direct bus timing to depart from SML to Taichung, and we hurriedly went back for a check-out.

Bus fare NT$190, Around 90mins trip.
#2 Taichung HSR > Dreambobobo (夢遊啵啵啵)
I dont really like cabbing, especially when there is a free shutter bus from Taichung HSR to Fengjia. But my parents love convenience, and the driver did alot of cajoling. Im not saying cajoling is bad, but just personally i dont enjoy it. So anyway we cabbed to our stay-location. From HSR to Fengjia it was around NT$200~$250.

夢遊啵啵啵, www.dreambobobo.com.tw, Facebook Page, NT$1988/night
I would say the room price is a steal, adding on it was the reunion night and they should have priced their room even higher. But the owner actually gave us a early-bird discount on top of the normal price. Very pretty corridors, with hand-painted morales of Alice in the wonderland, Aladdin etc. And we chose the Doraemon themed room as my sister loves Doraemon. Definitely recommending people with tight budget, but please note that there isnt any lift in the building.

Went for lunch somewhere further down the street, mini-steamboat!

Can't remember the price, perhaps around NT$400? Ordered like 5dishes.

#3 near Dreambobobo > Yizhong Street
After that we roamed around the streets near where we stayed, but there was nothing much so we decided to head to Yizhong Street. We really wanted to bus to Yizhong Street, BUT the bus did not come for 20mins, so we decided to cab.

Yizhong Street is so happening. So much things to buy and eat! I would say one of the best shopping district I enjoyed so far.

Street View of Yizhong Street.

Bird's egg, NT$10 Chickenwing and Chicken feet! Chicken feet is super nice as it is with garlic, one box costed around NT$80 i think?

#4 Yizhong Street > Fengjia Night Market
We left around evening for Fengjia Night Market, and we cabbed too. Cause we have no idea where were we and where was the bus stop. No wonder my friend who came Taichung before told me, "In Taichung, it is all about taking cabs."

The shops closed at 6pm and opened at 8pm due to the reunion dinner. So at first, it was abit quiet, and then it got more and more crowded.

Had fried squid, chicken wrapped in roll! and had nice dumplings from this old and famous dumpling store! We also tried the famous egg cake which comes in different shapes. Ended the day with a bowl of tauhuey.

Next morning we did a self-checkout. The owner cant be bothered to come down and collect the money from us, cause it was the first day of CNY, so we had to place money on top of the refrigerator. And we went for breakfast at the somewhere next to Macdonald. And it tasted pretty good!

I love taiwanese fried egg roll with ham!

#5 Fengjia (random) Street > Taichung HSR
Asked the stall owner for the direction to the free HSR shutter bus bus stop, it is happened to be just across the street. So we waited for the bus for a while since we missed the previous bus. The whole bus was empty, just us and another couple. And around 30mins we reached Taichung HSR.
