[TW; 2023] Day 5 - Yangmingshan, Beitou, Tamsui

Day 4

Hidden City

Started the morning right with danbing for breakfast - it was an ultimate danbing: floss + ham + cheese!

1. Yangmingshan National Park

Took the metro and changed to the bus for Bamboo Lake

We came in spring time so it is the season for white calla lilies!

The sky is so blue and pretty!

We followed the signboards for the calla lilies path.

Fields and fields of flowers :)

Was hungry and we passed by this restaurant...

It is probably the best choice we made, it is quite a popular place, better to reserve and not walk in!

Say hello to the restaurant dog!

We got an outside sitting which was great:

We ordered 2 dishes and they were sooooo good and filling - bitter gourd chicken soup and stir-fry brinjal:

The soup is really a must order - it was so nice that we takeaway the soup to drink. If you are coming as a group, it will be perfect to order a whole table of good food!

After feeling satisfied with food, we continued walking around the calla lilies path.

We wanted to go and experience plucking of the flowers, but they have a minimum. Hence what we did was to purchase the flowers from a random stall:

I cannot remember how much was it - probably NT50 for 3 stalks or something. Not the cheapest we heard, some passbyer told us they bought it for NT10/stalk.

But was happy that I could carry them out for the whole day!

2. Beitou 北投

Took a bus down to Beitou and stopped by the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch

Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch
It was a great place to chill, enjoy and take photos!

What I love about Beitou... even the drainage looks so pretty.

We ended up walking to the Thermal Valley

 Thermal Valley
This place is popular and well known for its steaming, green-tinted sulfur hot springs.

Really impressive! And they have some "samples" where you can test out the water and temperature:

Exited the thermal valley and walked further up to the temple - it is rather Japanese style that you need to wash your hand before entering:

 Puji Temple

I visited this temple many years back and everything still looks the same - simple yet traditional.

And last stop at Beitou was an impromptu decision... to go for a leg hot spring dip:

 Longnice hotspring

We had the whole place to dip our legs!

We are given a timer, so once it starts beeping you should get out of the place:

And the price come with drinks!
It was inexpensive - I really wonder why I never did this in Beitou for my previous few trips!

3. Tamsui 淡水

Tamsui is all about food!

You cannot miss out the red bean cake at the entrance of the old street:

晴光紅豆餅

Super yummy with creamy fillings - red bean & custard always my must buy!

I don't know why, but tamsui means a cup of Sour Plum drink

And the famous fishball soup & a-gei:

Old Shop Tamsui Fish Ball
I seriously don't recall this stall to be that popular - it shows how long I haven't been to tamsui! I had to queue for 15-20 minutes for a takeaway (it was a weekend).

It was just average? I was hungry and ordered a pau too, it was also average

The evening river view:

Hidden City

Hidden City
I met up with a friend and she brought me to a very small yet comfortable bar:

The sides were delicious and the drinks were good too! Recommended if you just want to wind down the day with a friend or two.
