[MY; 2010] Genting Food Trail
i went Genting like thousands over time; abit exaggerating
but anyway i decided to do a compilation of all the nice restaurant/food stores hidden in that small place.
so, i went to dig out all the past photos and this is the best i could share.
if you encounter a chance to go genting (duh -.-),
go and try the place/s that i recommend.
i will update this list if i visit genting again. (i hope i don't)
;D
First stop: grab your chopstick for dim sums!
Genting Palace Restaurant é²čÆ宫
it is located above Genting hotel, 2nd floor, near the casino of Genting and some performing theater.
anyway, the dim sum there are real good and i love their porridge of the day.
they not only provide dim sum but also some real good cano dishes.
their price are reasonable but the service is a bit ehh.
note: visit them in the morning (around 10-11am), so that the porridge of the day will serve to you steaming hot.
Second stop: some creative delicacy on your way
Shanghai 10
They have some special dishes which i never seen before,
but i am not sure whether Shanghai has it.
anyway, it is located near the escalator going to the movie theaters.
{top left} durian pancake; my favourite so far. it is like a durian pancake wrapping cushions of whipped cream. omg! the taste is wonderful; because i love eating whip cream.
{bottom left} crab egg noodles(?); must eat it when it is steaming hot. the noodle taste bad when it turns cold.
and try their drinks, especially their ice lemon tea.
it is also a place which serves nice dim sums too.
note: they may have long queues outside their shops at random dinner times, try your luck, it seems that close to 9pm is the safest timing.
Third stop: simple yet surprising
Causeway Bay é
é¼ē£
faithfully located at first world level3 (i believe) for many many many years, near the food court.
{top left} 3treasure; must try the char siew! it is super delicious.
{bottom left} steam egg; the seasons are done just nice.
all the dishes are pretty fine, and their staffs are very nice and friendly.
i prefer local dumplings more than theirs.
but anyway this place is quite popular; but still it apparently never fail to surprise even regular travelers that this restaurant actually exist. (laughs)
Fourth stop: hidden treasure
it is a small shop located around (this is tricky) inbetween the basement casino of genting and the cable car station.
i just found this shop the previous trip to Genting.
{right top} vegetable; surprisingly the vegetables' seasonings are done perfectly well.
adding on the soups they offer taste above average.
my sister will tell you that their bak gu teh is the best; she ate it 3days in a row.
note: the shop size is quite small, 4-5tables only, so best timing would be somewhere off-peak.
Last stop: row to Vietnam (unfortunately this shop has closed)
i remember i took a lot pictures of this restaurant's dishes but end up i only can find this. ;/
(this location is super hard to describe) just follow along the 'river' in the first world hotel level 2A and i am sure you will find your way there.
all their dishes are highly recommended!
like curry duck, flaming prawn in coconut, peas and everything else.
i dont know about others, but i highly recommend this place.
the price is a bit above average but it is worth it in my opinion.
note: this restaurant is quite popular recently, specially during dinner time, maybe going slightly earlier will avoid the problem.
Add ons:
if you are craving for fruity ice or waffles in Genting, no worries.
Daily Fresh have wide range of deserts to make you happy. (:
it is located near the reindeer ride entrance at first world and i believe i saw one of the other branch at the bus station.
(:
