[TH; 2014] BKK Part 2

Sawadee Kha!
This is the part2 of my BKK trip!

1) LemonTea Hotel > Chatuchak Weekend Market
How can you miss out Chatuchak Weekend Market if you're visiting BKK during the weekends?
Chatuchak also refers to Jatujak(จตุจักร).

^^You can take the skytrain (BTS) and get off at Sapan Khwai Station or Mochit Station, for metro (MRT) get off at Kamphaenpetch Station

FOOD at Chatuchak!
1. Green Chili
Green Chili is located near Exit 2 of Kamphaeng MRT. It is quite a recognised stall with alots of media reports on their food. Actually, we just happen to stumble across this stall when we were hungry and decided to give a try. The portions were small and the price was a little pricey. But taste wise, not that bad. Would recommend to try their braised pork!

2. Coconut Icecream JJ
Not sure whether this is authentic coconut icecream or what, but the queue was quite long. It is located somewhere near Exit 2 of Kamphaeng MRT too. Quite refreshing to have this under the hot weather. And they were quite nice to give out free coconut juice to clench our thirst.

3. Some random stall #1
I wish I could translate the name of the stall, but the thai font was abit hard to read. It is located near a toilet of a certain entrance/exit. The stall owner was some cute thai guy who can't speak English... I tried asking him in thai what was he selling. But his signboard saved the day, cause I dont know what is squid roe in thai anyway. The squid roe was soft and chewy, not that bad.

4. Some random stall #2
Another random stall located at JJ market, near to JJ mall. This was the place I used up almost all my thai knowledge to order the food. It was so complicated as you need to choose (1)soup or dry, (2)type of noodles, (3)beef or pork. There were 5 of us, and everyone has different combination. The food was alright but the portion was so small, it was like 3 mouthful and the whole bowl was gone.

Some basic skills you can learn to order food:
(1) You need to know all the numbers in thai; it is super easy to remember if you're a chinese/hokkien speaker http://www.thai-language.com/ref/numbers
(2) Reading the dishes names will be challenging, so point and tell them the number of servings you want. Eg you want to order 2 bowls of beehoon: khor [point the beehoon] song thii kha/krap. (khor=please, song=two, thii=servings)
(3) If you need ask them the total cost of the meal: thanmot thawray kha/krap (thanmot=altogether, thawray=how much)

Easy?

5. Some random stall #3
Some sushi stall along JJ mall to Kamphaeng MRT, near some fish market. It was super cheap, we bought 2 full boxes of sushi costed less than 150baht. You can't get such good deal anywhere in Singapore. And they are freshly handmade.

2. Chatuchak Weekend Market > Terminal 21

The quite famous Terminal 21! To reach there, take the Skytrain (BTS) and alight at Asoke Station or take the Metro (MRT) and alight at Sukhumvit Station. And I did some research, the foodcourt (Pier21) at Terminal 21 serves good food. You need to get a refundable card to purchase food.

What I love about the mall... they have different themes (country) for every level.

So does their toilets.. different country-themed. And even the same level the toilets are different.

3. Terminal 21 > Ratchaprarop
We decided to settle our dinner somewhere near LemonTea Hotel, which is at Ratchaprarop area.
Their street foods were good and cheap!

And my sister got herself a Jelly treat at 7-11!
Phop Gan Mai (พบกันใหม่)!
