[AU; 2024] Day 2 - Adelaide | Central Market \ Penfolds
Day 2 of my short Adelaide trip!
Morning: Chinatown & Adelaide Central Market
I woke up early in the morning, and decided to head to the market to find some dried food stuff.Chinatown Adelaide
But most of the shops were closed and they were all selling very local produce, so I ended up in the Adelaide Central Market. Which is also selling local produce hahahaha
Adelaide Central Market
I couldn't resist the tempation to grab some fruits - they were cheap and pretty!
Lunch: Madame Hanoi
Madame Hanoi
Very oriential designed restuarant and do note they do not have lunch hours everyday, check google before you visit!
Some hits and misses - generally seafood was great, but pork belly I felt it was too greasy. But overall the food were good. I recommend if you are around the area!
Tea-break 1: Penfolds
The legendary penfolds!!! I think they did a great marketing - I guess some cookies captured that I will be traveling to Adelaide, so I keep getting advertisment of Penfolds on my social medias. I'm not someone who really drinks - I only do so for work / networking. So it was very rare for me to decide to come here!
Penfolds Magill Estate
I would say the winery is very pretty that even if you don't drink, it totally okay to just come and take photos!
They had flight menus - click photo below to see the daily flight menu's wines:
And if you purchased a bottle of wine with them after the tasting, you get the whole flight waived off (worth $20) - it was totally a steal! Of course $20 for a flight of 7 small glasses was already a steal!
They had staff coming over to your table to share the little stories behind each wine you are tasting, which was an amazing experience!
It was a off peak day - so the staff were so friendly that they gave us more wine to taste for free. We had like 2-3 more glasses to try the more exclusive wines. Like black labelled dessert wine and father - both my favourite!
Most of the wines can be found in airports, online stores and etc. So to be a little more strategic, I got the black labelled dessert wine. Black labelled means it is more rare to find in stores or online. This is the name of the wine: Cellar Reserve Viognier 2020.
Tea-break (2): Messina
Gelato Messina Kent Town
I was told that this was the Gen Z favourite ice cream in Adelaide - the ice cream store had a really cool design but the seats were little. So I ended having this at a random bus stop outside. But yummy of course!
Dinner: Hut & Soul
Another asian restuarant for this trip!
They are serving Indonesian & Malaysian cuisine, with some tweak in the favours to suit the locals.Hut & Soul
The food, service, experience everything was great! I would recommend if you're looking for something asian / craving for rice in Adelaide!
Ending off my day 2 and trip to Adelaide with a random photo of an apple cider I had in the bar next to the restuarant:
