[TW; 2013] Living in Taiwan Series | Taipei101 台北101

Featuring what to do at the new Taipei 101 station!

Firstly, I need to introduce the route of the day: (all by foot)

A: Taipei 101 Metro Station
B: 四四南村傳統眷村
C: Taipei 101 Starbucks
D: Linjiang/Tonghua Night Market 临江/通化夜市

A: Taipei 101 Metro Station

Exit at EXIT4 to see the Taipei 101 in the pretty angle like this:

B: 四四南村傳統眷村

A pretty village located near 101...
^^The sign to tell you that you have reached

^^四四南村傳統眷村

^^A cafe located over there to enjoy coffee and the 101 view

^^this is how close 101 is

^^Good place to camwhore!

Enjoyed walking through the traditional houses, looking at others sitting on the small hills, kids playing around... And I heard every weekends there will be a flea market held over at the village!

C: Taipei 101 Starbucks

You may be wondering... why am I introducing starbucks. It is like everywhere in Taipei...
The special part of this Starbucks is it is located at the 35th level of 101.

STEP1: Locate this 'LOVE' symbol
If you see this... it means the entrance door is pretty near you! Look out for the less busy entrance where you see people wearing office dressings in and out; between Songzhi Street and Xinyi Street.

STEP2: Call the 35f Starbucks using the visitor phone
Such visitor access phone booths are located at the lobby near the entrance. Call the staffs using this computerized phone booth. But please be patient, we tried like almost 30times, changing different phone booths, before the call went through. And we came at 3.40pm but we had to wait for the 5pm slot.

Maybe you could plan something like us; get the time slot first, and head to the village near 101 while waiting for your turn.

STEP3: Request for the Visitor Pass
Call up starbucks again using the visitor phone booth at your timeslot to receive the pass! The phone booth will issue you the pass.

STEP4: Take the lift to the 35f

Needless to say... just press '35'!

STEP5: Step in the starbucks and enjoy "similar" 89f 101 view without entrance fee!
(of course you need to purchase a cup of starbucks coffee to enjoy the view!)
^^Pretty crowded for a weekday

^^Quite a gloomy day so we cant have the sunset view

^^Mocha Iceblended for me at such a nice view and environment
Note that they close at 6.30pm!

D: Linjiang/Tonghua Night Market 临江/通化夜市

As I read alot of Taiwan guides whenever I am free... I remembered there was a night market nearby 101. (okay I admit I will read Taiwan maps too; I dont like to get lost). So we did google search at Starbucks and to be true Linjiang/Tonghua Night Market is located at a walkable distance.

^^night view of 101 exterior

^^This is the night market signboard
It took us around 20mins to walk over from 101 to this night market...

^^Busy streets of the night market

The night market is located on one long street, but separated by a traffic junction. One portion was much crowded (near watsons and the NM signboard shown above), while the other was less crowded (nearer to the metro station Xinyi Anhe). So we decided to settle our dinner at the less crowded part.

大傻小傻-傻瓜麵,台北市大安區臨江街136號, Taipei, Taiwan 106
^^傻瓜面 silly noodles???
It is really very plain noodles; but the sauces made the noodles very refreshing! And the stall owners were very enthusiastic about teaching us how to eat and what else to add in like black vinegar. And they were very willing to share about their noodles and etc; especially when they realised you're a foreigner.

^^黑轮萝卜汤 Raddish with fish cake soup

And we walked to the new metro station... 信義安和站 Xinyi Anhe; it was located at a walkable distance around 10mins! Just walk until the end of Linjiang Street (less crowded portion of the NM), turn right and walk straight down.
So... if you are intending to visit Linjiang/Tonghua Night Market, just use the convenience and stop over at Xinyi Anhe and exit from EXIT3/4!
