[TW; 2015] Solo Backpack Series | Part 7 - Little Liuqiu

DAY6
Route Info: Ahiruyah Guest House > Donggang > Little Liuqiu > Liuhe Night Market
(鴨家青年旅館 > 東港 > 小琉球 > 六合夜市)
1. Ahiruyah Guest House > Donggang > Little Liuqiu
To take the ferry to Little Liuqiu, firstly you need to go Kaohsiung Train Station either (1)take a bus and walk/cab or (2)take a private-shared car to Donggang.

We opted for the second option as there is 3 of us and it is convenient&time-saving. You can purchase the private-shared car tickets at NT$150/person, it is sold in a motorbike rental shop located opposite the train station, beside Hangten. If you're a solo traveler you may need to wait for enough people to fill up the cab. The private-shared car ride was around 40-50mins!

So the driver introduce us to this auntie who sells ferry tickets + bicycle package. I can't remember how much we paid, perhaps NT$600.

It was rather confusing as there are 3 types of ferry going to Little Liuqiu, 公營 and 民營 (private operating ferry and government operating ferry?), and 民營 is divided into 2 type one is normal and another is 泰富. Since we bought the package, we just merely followed the instructions to board the ferry and etc.

We collected our bicycles at a shop near the ferry terminal, and the staffs were like "Are you sure you want to go around Little Liuqiu with a bicycle?". We saw people cycling around using a bicycle so we decided not to listen to their advice and insisted in riding a bicycle. We regretted so much. After cycling for 20mins, we came back to the shop and topped up some money and changed to a electric bicycle.

The slopes at Little Liuqiu is too crazy, even with a mountain bike I bet you need great strength to complete a round.

Had a crash course on how to use a electric bicycle, by right some license is needed I suppose, but this small island does not have any traffic lights, so... I guess regulations are loosen?

Too hungry after attempting to conquer Little Liuqiu with a bicycle, we headed for late lunch with our electric bicycle! Had Little Liuqiu famous Sakura Shrimp Fried Rice at some random stall!

And... photos of the beautiful island!
^^if you're intending to overnight at Little Liuqiu or have more time, you can try snorkeling!

While we "cycled" effortlessly to the Tourist Centre of Little Liuqiu, there was a forest fire, thankfully it wasnt really serious and we still managed to cycle through the road.

We parked our bicycles outside the tourist centre, and followed the stairs down to the famous 花瓶岩Flower Vase Rock!

2. Little Liuqiu > Donggang > Liuhe Night Market
As the last ferry was about to depart, we quickly returned our bicycles and rushed over to the ferry port. So glad we managed to reach the port 15mins before the departure, as the ferry left the port 10mins ahead of schedule!

Anyway, we managed to cycle one round around Little Liuqiu within 3hours! And a tick off the places I would like to go in Taiwan!

We visited the market next to Donggang while waiting for the private-shared car to pick us up.

Many people were queuing for this 黑輪 Hei Lun, which is fried fish paste with a quarter of egg within it. Not the best Hei Lun I have eaten, but definitely a yummy snack to munch on.

The private-shared car dropped us off at Liuhe Night Market, so we for abit of window shopping.

Thank you Ms E and her roomie for the great day! (":
