[TW; 2024] Day 3 | Kinmen - Jinhu Jinsha Jincheng || Wheelchair series 🧑🦽➡️
Day 3
Breakfast
Woke up early again and headed off to the market to grab breakfast - really loved our minsu location! All the good food are just walking distance.

We bought a few different buns - and I have to say all of them tasted yummy! Recommend to have it while it is still warm!
We walked further down and got ourselves some famous breakfast item:

We had one of each kind - and the pan fried bun was very juicy! Totally worth the walk into the alleys to find this breakfast store!

It was a totally random buy while walking back to the minsu, and we wasn't expecting the xiaolongbao to be so huge! They are more like actual paus then those small dumplings you usually have in dimsum restaurants. But it was still great!

This is another congee and recommended by our minsu owner, actually I think I prefer this congee over the one I had on day 2. But the fried dough that came with the congee couldn't compare with the 100 years store.
We heard the egg pancake 蛋餅 is good too (some aunties were talking about it while I was waiting for the congee), it is crispy type - regretted not trying!
1. Chen Jinglan Western-style Mansion

It is a western-styled mansion which has a great seas view. The owner of this building - Chen Jinglan migrated to Singapore, and when he earned enough money, he bought this land to build this place. There was a high curb at the entrance, and some steps around the building, but the ground level was ok for wheelchair.
There was a small side building that displays a lot of historical information on the different surnames living in Kinmen:

As a descendant of immigrants from Kinmen, this place was really informative and we were able to confirm the exact village our ancestors were from.
2. Xin Hu Harbour Safety Inspection Office
Xin Hu Harbour Safety Inspection Office
This is a recommended place by an influencer and we thought to pop-by and take a look! The roads were pretty flat, suitable for the wheelchair users!
It was quite a peaceful harbor with not much visitors, there is a cafe near the lighthouse but operating at very late hours. It was a good place for photoshoot!
3. Jinhu 金湖
We visited a small township called Jinhu - there were plenty things to eat but not very wheelchair friendly...

You can park your car near this basketball court:山外中正路公共籃球場
We were a little lost on the parking fees, so we learnt that you can just park your car and leave the area, there will be staff manually issuing tickets and tuck them under the wiper. If you're back under a certain time, it will be free parking (no action required, just drive off), otherwise you can pay them at the nearest convenience store.
The area was quite interesting to walk around with many fun murals:

4. Tai Lake Recreational Area

We happened to discover this on google map and decided to pop-by, it was very serene!

I didn't know that lakes can be so pretty too! It had a very nice background of the mountain ranges. Could just hang out there for hours just staring into spaces!
We headed to a farm to have lunch!

It was pretty quiet on a weekday...

The menu was a little confusing, nevertheless, we manage to order everything in time and the food portion was huge. Was glad that we order 3 meals for 4 pax! Food was good and nothing to pick on!
They have a gift store next to the restaurant where you can purchase some snacks and biscuits, the milk related snacks were quite yummy that we bought back a few:

The plus of this place: it is super wheelchair accessible!
6. Shamei Old Street

The old street was quite vibrant with murals:

This is the famous 沙美摩洛哥 - ruins of the old buildings. It was very wheelchair accessible.

They were quite naturally preserved, excellent place to take photos:

If you are wondering how it is possible for this place to be an excellent place to take photos, here is an example:

7. Kinmen Seaside Recreation Park
We headed back early to the minsu to take a rest, and came out again when it was close to sunset:

Kinmen Seaside Recreation Park
It was just walking distance from our minsu to this park, really amazing view! We didn't manage to go Jiangongyu Islet 建功嶼, but we were able to see it from this park. Sunset time lapse:

Dinner!
We headed to the market again, but this time to grab dinner back! On the way we saw this interesting water pump, very very manual method of retrieving water.

This store was very popular and there was a long queue for dine in - so takeaway for us! Their chicken soup is very special... they added 一條根 aka One Root / Kinmen Root in it. The root was usually used in medicinal oilment, so this was my first time trying it in the soup. It was rather tasteless, not as scary I thought it would be!
We also bought some snacks while waiting for our takeaway dinner:

喫餅 低糖車輪餅.雞蛋糕(金門店)

And also...

I have to be honest, the fried chicken was the best! Followed by the egg cake. This beancurd was quite average for us.
Went to bed feeling very satisfied!
