Taiwan Trip | Part 8 - Taipei

Day 8

Breakfast

It was our last day in Taipei - so the itinerary was very free and easy around Ximending. I decided to grab egg crepe pancake 蛋餅 (dan bing) from two stores to compare.

This was from Weiding:

This was from Mei & Mei:

Weiding's danbing was more flavourful, while Mei & Mei was more simple. Personally - none of them fits my standards of danbing, but if I had to choose, I will probably go with Weiding.

Lunch

We rest in the airbnb for the rest of the morning before heading out for lunch:
Diao Min Asia Sauerkraut Fish Ximen Zhonghua Branch
There seems to be a hype where locals were recommending this Sauerkraut Fish throughout our trip.

We were lucky that there was no queue, and the food was affordable. But it tasted really normal to us? Probably because we didn't order the spicy soup?

Shopping at Zhongshan / Chifeng

Previously, I would head to Dongqu for shopping, but in my recent few trips, I have shifted over to Zhongshan / Chifeng Street area instead. No particular reason, just felt that Zhongshan has a chill vibe. It was a weekend, so the place was bustling with locals and small popup stalls.

A couple of interesting shops to look around:

And tried this popular bubble tea store:
COFFEE.TEA.OR -中山形象店
I was having high expectations of this bubble tea, but it ended up disappointing. The staff was not paying attention and she took my order wrongly.

My favourite Taiwanese brand - Queen Shop. They have several outlets in the area, which I usually plan my shopping route around their 3 outlets:
QUEEN SHOP 南西形象概念店https://maps.app.goo.gl/SQcMztRo5nDHbPQu8
QUEEN SHOP 台北南西門市https://maps.app.goo.gl/JfstdqpNT59NtPhj8
QUEEN SHOP 南西中山捷運門市https://maps.app.goo.gl/ExFrwmPpnMaA2kZ88

Another IG reels popular store:
Iyoshi Cola

We got the Taiwan-flavoured Iyoshi Cola, and it tasted very refreshing!

If you would like to get some cans back (the normal Iyoshi Cola), they have this vending machine hidden behind the store (nearer to the next door bakery where parking was). At that time, the vending machine was selling the cola cheaper than the store. We got one can and it tasted nice too.

We walked back to Ximending via the Zhongshan underground mall - plenty of things to see too:
Eslite R79 Store / Zhongshan Underground Book Street 誠品書店 R79 / 中山地下書街
Lot of pop up stalls:

We bought this Taiwanese influencer's cookies - some flavours were a miss, while some tasted not too bad.

Many interesting stuffs such as a cake ATM:

Of course, some cute merchandise stores too:

Quick Dinner

We spent almost the whole afternoon shopping in Zhongshan and followed by shopping in Ximending. Grab some late dinner at MOS Burger.

Day 9

To Airport!

Our flight was pretty early in the morning - 9am. We booked an airport transfer via klook at 6:15am, klook suggested to be there early, so we appeared at the pickup location at 6am. The driver was already there, I asked if it was alright for us to board and etc, and he started nagging that we turned up too early for the ride that he couldn't take a nap. He repeated a couple of times during the drive, so I had to tell him that "the app told us to arrive 20 minutes early", and he said something like "it was a reminder for riders who are usually late..." and finally stop nagging around it.

Honestly, this was the first time I booked an airport ride and the driver was so unhappy that we arrived early.

At Taoyuan Airport, EVA had a dedicated counter for wheelchair bounded users - please don't queue the normal check-in line:

We had time to spare - so we did our tax refund too. There was no queue in the morning:

Many cute shops in the departure hall:

In-flight meal was pasta - which was very rare!

This is the last post of our Taiwan trip!
