[TW; 2013] Living in Taiwan Series | Kaohsiung 高雄 P3

Kaohsiung Part3/Day3

1. 丹丹漢堡 Dan Dan Hamburger (西子灣)

We took the metro to 西子灣 Sizihwan, and tried this famous chain outlet located opposite the metro EXIT1!
We surveyed our Taiwanese friends and they told us Dandan Hamburger is a must try in Kaohsiung, cause they only have outlets at the southern part of Taiwan! Being obedient, we googled for the most convenient outlet, and Sizihwan outlet was the most accessible for us.

^^Their menu; wide range of western and chinese fusion in their set meal

^^I ordered Set Meal 11!

^^麵線羹 Thin Noodles/ Meesua with meat

^^鮮酥雞 Fresh Crispy Chicken

This set costed me NT$89; it is so cheap and so worth it.
Because I dont really eat oyster so I dont fancy oyster meesua; the menu was so nice not to have the mainstream oyster meesua but meat with meesua. The meesua tasted abit sweet compared to the normal oyster meesua, and it tasted good with the meat! Plus, I really like the crispy chicken!
Good experience with Dandan Hamburger; such a pity they dont have any branches in Taipei!

2. 打狗鐵道故事館 Takao Railway Museum

Second time to this Museum! We walked from Dandan to this Museum.

3. 駁2藝術特區 The Pier-2 Art Center

It is located right behind the Takao Museum.
2 ways to get there: By 西子灣Xizihwan Metro Station or 鹽埕埔Yanchengpu Metro Station
^^Very big area to explore!

^^Art pieces placed on the train tracks

^^There was an exhibition at that time! Open將!

^^Old warehouses

^^Iconic figures lined along Pier2; decorated by different artists.

^^gigantic ones at the road junction

^^Cute figures sitting on the warehouse's door

^^Placed by Mayday after their concert

Enjoyed the walk along Pier2 looking and taking photos of all the art pieces!!! So many of them and I cant able to upload all! And we met our Korean friends cycling around Pier2; which was a really good idea to save some time walking though these long stretch!

4. 旗津島 Cijin Island

^^Ferry stations

^^Street view of the Cijin's main street

^^Walked over to the nearby beach!

^^Some street food; BBQ Squid

^^黑輪! Deep fried fishcake! Wasnt so nice compared to the longshansi's one; abit salty!

5. 海之冰

Our taiwanese friends recommended us to try blended ice near the ferry station at Sizihwan; there were many ice outlets and so we decided to try the biggest outlet over there.

^^Whole list of desserts

^^You have to write down how many times you want the desert to be; and we chose 3 times larger than normal bowl

^^So we got a large bowl of Strawberry Ice!
As I have low level of sweet tolerance, so the condensed milk was too sweet for me; I din really enjoyed the ice as much as my friends do. But the strawberries were delicious!

6. 真愛碼頭 Love Pier

We walked to the Love Pier; passing Pier2 once again. It wasnt so peaceful and nice like before! So many ferries and so many people boarding those ferries. Not a good place to enjoy the love river anymore!

7. Lover Pier > 鹽埕埔 Yanchengpu Station

Came across this 瑪莉食品 Mary's Food while walking from Love Pier to Yanchengpu Station. A small bakery shop and sells very special kaohsiung specialities!

^^We bought one box of 栗子燒 Chestnut Cake back for our Taiwan friends

^^It wasnt too sweet and the chestnut favour with chocolate was really a nice combination!

8. Yanchengpu > 美麗島站 Formosa Boulevard Station > 六合夜市 Liuhe Night Market

^^Settled dinner with a simple bowl of beehoon with braised egg

^^Ended our Liuhe Night Market trip with a cup of Banana Milk

I have to admit that the way how we planned wasnt really smooth. But we are afraid the sun will set and we cant take any photos at Pier 2; cause it was winter and the sun sets pretty early. The more ideal guide will be:
Sizihwan Station > Dandan Hamburger > Cijin Island > Takao Museum > Pier 2 > Love River > Yanchengpu Station
