[AU; 2023] Kiama, NSW

G'day Kiama!

Kiama is an coastal town south of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia. If you have been to Sydney City many times and would like to go for something less touristy and different, enjoy good food and scenery - Kiama is the place.

Follow me to Kiama :)

How to go Kiama?

Arrive at Sydney Airport

Alternatively, Canberra Airport will work too. Kiama is like in-between Sydney and Canberra. It was the pride month and the Sydney Airport was so happening with activities.

Rent a Car

I'm sure you can get there by public transport (somehow, but should be complicated) but we had someone able to drive us there. It was just an hour and half drive, not too long and the views along the costal lines were great. Mini road trip!

Day 1

#1 Sydney Airport > Stanwell Top

Stanwell Top
Located at between Sydney & Wollongong, Stanwell Top is the perfect place to get a bird eye view of the coastline. There was a guy flying his drone and showed us what he captured. It was totally amazing.

#2 Stanwell Top > Grand Pacific Drive > Sea Cliff Bridge

Sea Cliff Bridge
Probably one of the most prettiest bridge drive I ever experienced. Highly recommend to take this route to Kiama!

#3 Lunch at Kiama

Kiama was just a short distance away from Sea Cliff. Hungry and needed lunch!
Saltwater Cafe
Kiama = Seafood = Chips!

A perfect seafood lunch with a perfect weather!

#4 Check-in Airbnb

It was a 2 bed room with living space & kitchen:

The balcony has a good view and also a photo wall!

There are plenty of airbnbs in Kiama so just pick whichever that suits the best: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/kiama-australia/stays

#5 Rock Pool

Kiama is very popular for their rock pool - mainly the pool near the Kiama blow hole... but we went for a "secret" rock pool that was less crowded!
Gerringong Boat Harbour Rock Pool

Swimming in a natural pool was a totally new experience! At the end of the pool, it gave the infinity pool vibe.

#6 Dinner back at Kiama

Olive & Vine
This pizza was a masterpiece, it was amazingly delicious! Definitely the top few pizza places for me

The alcoholic dessert smelt nice hahaha!

Day 2

#1 Sunrise at Kiama Blowhole

The peaceful Kiama town before it started to rain~

I walked from the airbnb place to this Kiama Showground to make a small hike up to the blowhole.

Happy morning walk with sunrise waiting for me! Of course awesome sea view while hiking the small slope.

This is totally postcard worthy~

The lighthouse looks cute from far - it was rather short compared to the other lighthouses I visited in Australia.
Kiama Lighthouse

Tada - the blowhole, that black hole in the bottom:
Kiama Blowhole

So you need to visit when the tides are high and able to see the water flowing into the hole and bursting out. It can go up to 25m.

There is a rock pool nearby the blowhole, but it was pretty crowded even in early morning.

#2 Lunch at Kiama

The Grand Kiama
The chips were average, but the pasta was my favourite, loved the sauce so much :)

#3 Chill & relax around Kiama

Yes, just enjoy this small town vibe. Walking around, taking photos, going shopping for beach stuffs and chill around the little cafes here and there. You can spend your afternoon slowly exploring the town.

#4 Dinner at Kiama

El Corazon Cocina de Mexico
I'm unsure if I ever had a Mexico meal before, but this was definitely a good experience. Recommend to reserve in advance, they are quite popular and can be pretty packed. Sizzling meals are always nice :)
We were a group for sharing - and the staff were very friendly and asked if we have enough food otherwise they can get some meat for us.

This marks the end of my small travel to Kiama, New South Wales.
