[TW; 2013] Living in Taiwan Series | Kaohsiung 高雄 P1

PART 1 of Kaohsiung 高雄 Trip
Firstly we booked the HSR tickets online; just a few days before the departure. And we managed to get the "Early Bird" 20% discount, where we saved like NT$300+. Because we did our payment at Hi-life so there was another NT$10 surcharge.
http://www5.thsrc.com.tw/en/ticket/tic_earlybird.asp, more information about the HSR early bird scheme
It was pretty easy to do payments at convenience stores; just find a machine in the store and click accordingly. A receipt will be printed out by the machine and do the payment at the cashier, you will get your train tickets immediately. (Hi-life ticket looks like the above photo) Just scan the QRcode at the train gantry to enter.

^^Bento bought at the Taipei Main Station! Yummy!

Settled down in our stay at the 85Building... But because the room was so small, we spent so much time settling our beds and stuffs and I forgot to take a picture of it.

The best thing of 绵羊海 is.. it is an online system. So we do not need to call the owner and ask them for the availability. It was a pretty clean room but it was more for 2 person room so when there was an extra bedding everything becomes so squeezy.

Jin-Zuan Night Market

So we went to the newest Night Markets in Kaohsiung. Just take the metro to 凱旋 Kaisyuan Station (R6) and follow the signs to the shutter bus provided. There will be 2 shutter bus; one to Jin-Zuan NM and another to Kaisyuan NM. Both Night Markets are just next to each other so take whichever you like.
^^only operating on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

^^Western meal; every hotplate comes with a free bread with soup

We only ordered this bread with soup
It is worth trying this stall, the bun and soup was great. Just that I created a big mess while eating this cause the bread was too crispy!

^^Fried Century Egg
Yes, Fried Century Egg. Hmm, I would say nothing special about it cause it just taste like century egg with a different texture. And there are many stalls over there selling this street food, I guess all are equally good. Although we did spent some time doing some research which stall to patronize, and this is one of the recommended stall.

Just looking for something to eat so we decided to settled on 小龍包 Xiao Long Bao, not that bad the dumplings were juicy and the meat was tender. Good enough to satisfy some dumplings cravings.

It was located right opposite 古記, so we decided to join the queue while waiting for our dumplings. It was awesome! Something like "sushi wrapping" method; used bacon to wrap it ingredients. Something I would recommend people to try in that Night Market!

&This marks the end of my Day1 in Kaohsiung!
