[CN; 2024] Day 5 | Xiamen - Zhongshan Shopping & Shapowei || Wheelchair series πŸ§‘‍🦽‍➡️

 Day 5

Xiamen was just a transit to Kinmen, so we only planned one full day to explore the city.

Breakfast

ζƒ ζΊι’εŒ…εΊ—
This is a popular bakery located within the 8th Seafood Market, we decided to join the queue to grab some bakes. Thankful that they accepted wechat pay - this cashless trip was still going strong!
Verdict: the bread was quite soft and yummy, would recommend if you're staying nearby. Price wise was very affordable.

Second breakfast stop near the 8th Seafood Market:
1980烧肉粽(εΌ€η¦ΎεΊ—)
This is also another popular stall I saw on Amap - a chain stall that sells rice dumpling. They have an extensive menu!

We tried ordering all the popular items on the menu:
Verdict: The rice dumplings were good, not too salty or oily. The seafood shacha noodles were good too. Overall, good food, slightly pricey compared to the local market pricing, but recommended if you want to eat something local and hygienic.

Shopping

The area we were staying was also close to a cluster of shopping malls, so we decided to walk over. It was quite a nice walk along the historical buildings and surprisingly quite wheelchair doable. The area we were walking toward was Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street Shangquan Chamber Of Commerce
δΈε±±θ·―ζ₯θ‘Œθ‘—ε•†εœˆε•†δΌš (google map).

We stopped over a food stall that had a long queue:
θ±ͺι¦™ι‡Œθ„Šθ‚‰δΈ²

The meat was quite tender, but I didn't like the εœη„Άη²‰ cumin powder on the meat... still recommend to at least have a try!

HeyTea was on my list to try - which I never tried it before in Singapore as it was too pricey.
HEYTEA ε–œθŒΆ(εŽ¦ι—¨δΈε±±θ·―εΊ—)

I ordered a grape drink and it tasted good - happy bubble tea time!

Some cute shops on the walk:

Minso was quite a good place to buy stuffs:

Lunch

ε˜Ÿθ΄Ίη«ι”…(δΈεŽεŸŽεΊ—)

They were famous for their shacha hotpot... but we tried the normal soup base. Because we had too much shacha in the morning with noodles. The service was quite disappointing - the aircon was not working, the staff were kinda cold, we should have went to haidilao instead.

But the hotpot price was quite friendly, on average damage was 50CNY/pax. Recommend only if you're nearby.

The mall itself was quite posh:

But the washrooms were disappointing... like some oldie ktv vibe, which was quite suspicious. XD

Shapowei 沙坑尾

We wanted to try the public transport but it was too troublesome. So we took a didi ride to Art West Zone θ‰Ίζœ―θ₯ΏεŒΊ.
Art West Zone θ‰Ίζœ―θ₯ΏεŒΊ
It is one of the hipster place in Xiamen:

It was not a very wheelchair friendly area, grounds were flat, but getting into the stores may be an issue. But interesting place if you want to get some gifts for friends and family, or to take some fun photos.

This is one of the popular photo spot:

The area also had a very nice harbour / waterfront view:

We found a bubble tea stall that had sitting area:
Molly Tea θŒ‰θŽ‰ε₯Άη™½(εŽ¦ι—¨ζ²™ε‘ε°Ύθ‰Ίζœ―θ₯ΏεŒΊεΊ—)

This is the best bubble tea I ever had in my life! I really liked it a lot :>

We decided to chase the sunset after taking a small break, street view of the Shapowei:

Sunset was near the viewing platform of this plaza:
εŽ¦ι—¨δΈ–θŒ‚ζ΅·ε³‘ε€§εŽ¦ Shimao Cross-Strait Plaza
I will rank this one of the most memorable sunset:
The sun was so bright but the clouds were so grey because of the typhoon (it was super windy), hence the whole sky turned violet during the golden hour! Mother nature :)

This marks the end of our full day in Xiamen, we just grab dinner from some random sushi store which wasn't nice so not recommending it in my post.
