[ID; 2025] Day 2 | Bali - Taman Ayun Temple \ Tanah Lot || Wheelchair series 🧑‍🦽‍➡️

Day 2!

Breakfast

Decided to check-out the cafes nearby for breakfast and spotted this very crowded cafe:
BAKED. Seminyak

Their pastries look really nice on display - reminds me of Melbourne's cafes:

We packed a few back to our villa to share - it was just 3 minutes walk away. And yes, they were yummy!!

After some quick breaky, we hopped on the car we booked for a private day trip from klook - we were assigned to a very chill driver. We choose the 6 hours option but the trip ended up slight more than 6 hours due to the bad traffic, and he didn't complain or asked us to pay for the extra hour.

Taman Ayun Temple

I searched for a few places that were wheelchair friendly - to be honest there wasn't a lot. And this temple seems to be quite wheelchair ok.
Taman Ayun Temple
Quite a peaceful Hindu temple with lots of greens and a canal along the side - to be honest, not a lot of tourists that you could take nice photos without capturing people in it. There was a small entrance fee - 30k IDR. The temple has a flat ground, so we could push the wheelchair all the way to the main compound.

When we thought we couldn't push the wheelchair further in, we saw there were ramps! What a lifesaver!

This temple is one of the World Heritage UNESCO sites, beautiful Balinese architecture every corner.

Lunch

Our driver recommended this place...
Bebek Sari Uma

We ordered all the different variation to try - fish, duck, chicken! They were all up to standard, nothing was disappointing - even the crackers at the side.

The plus point of this place - the view, we were surrounded by rice fields, which makes the whole dining experience very different.

The only downside? The service was extremely slow, we were so hungry while waiting...

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot

Our driver was the best - he helped us to navigate through while pushing the wheelchair, finding every possible slope. Even though google claim that this place is wheelchair friendly, but the ramps / slopes were damaged or very steep (like 60-70 degrees?!); so the driver tried his best to push the wheelchair as close as possible to the beach.

The coastal views were stunning, I recommend to come during sunset - I'm sure it will be amazing! Although it was filled with tourists and people everywhere, it was still a very nice walk around the area.

Chill & Dinner

We returned back to the villa early evening, so some of us headed to a nearby massage to just wind down for the day.

I would recommend this spa place for massage - it was clean, tidy and comfortable. They even do like pre-massage survey where you can highlight areas you want to focus on. Worth it even though it was slightly more expensive than the other massage place around Seminyak.

Right after massage, we packed dinner back from a nearby seafood restaurant:

Shrimpis Restaurant
The seafood was amazing though - probably taste better if we had it in the restaurant pipping hot!

If you would like to engage the same driver we had (without going through klook), here is his price list:
  • Half-day (1-5 hours): 450k IDR
  • Full-day (5-10 hours): 750k IDR
  • Areas covered: Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud, Gianyar
Drop me a comment or DM and I can share his contact with you :)

  1. Your photos of Taman Ayun Temple and the way you describe the reflections, the gardens, and the water all made me feel calm just scrolling through. When I travel, especially after a day like that, having a ride arranged ahead makes a difference I’ve used bnlbostonlimo.com a few times, and it takes so much of the stress out of transitions.
