[VN; 2025] Day 10 & 11 - Busan > Hanoi | Layover itinerary in Hanoi City

Day 10

Busan > Hanoi

Travel day to Hanoi! We had to say goodbye to this pretty hotel-apartment:

We got an uber to the airport - fuss free without lugging heavy luggage around. It was quite reasonable between SGD$20-25 for the trip.

Came to the airport slightly earlier so we can get the tax refunds done:

The Busan international airport was rather small, and CU was the most popular / crowded place. There were like cartons of banana milk just queuing outside waiting to be stocked up:

We bought a really cheap flight ticket from Busan > Hanoi > Singapore - it costed like SGD$120 for this distance. It was on Vietnam Airlines - if you're not extremely picky about alliances and branding etc, it was quite a decent ride. Food was average - asian food won't go wrong!

To Hanoi Hotel

Flight arrived on time, and easy to just call a Grab from the airport to the city area. It was quite a distance from the airport so do be prepared.

I booked a good looking boutique hotel (at the very last minute), and I checked the reviews very thoroughly after hearing some horror hotel experience some people had in Hanoi.
M Village Hotel Thợ Nhuộm
The hotel was quite a steal - just SGD$49 for one night stay!

The King bed was huge for two pax and we had a small balcony attached with the hotel interior view, which wasn't too bad:
This hotel will be perfect for the long stay because there were washing machines and dryers located in the lobby. The staff were very attentive and prompt to resolve issues - we had an issue with the safe deposit in the room and they came to the room within minutes. Really superb!

Roaming around Hanoi City

We didn't have an itinerary for Hanoi, but still wanted to see the city, so we started walking around based on the attractions we could spot on google map and some notes we taken down on social media.

First stop we made - Hanoi Moi Newspaper:

Hanoi Moi Newspaper
Báo Hà Nội Mới

It is a signature old building of Hanoi, very popular on social media for the vintage Hanoi vibe!

Second stop - Hoàn Kiếm Lake

We walked along the street and was treated with an amazing lake view:
Hoàn Kiếm Lake
Hồ Hoàn Kiếm
The streets and buildings were properly maintained!

Third stop, we were hungry - Pizza 4P’s Bao Khanh

Pizza 4P’s Bao Khanh
We came before the dinner rush, hence we didn't had to wait and just walked in. But if you're coming during dinner time, please make a reservation!

I liked the whole vibe and atmosphere of the place:

We ordered some food for sharing:

The pizza dough was good, and the option to mix different flavours was awesome for customers like us who cannot decide what to eat. Pasta was yummy too. I would recommend 4Ps even though some didn't have great experience like us. Give it a try!

Fourth stop was at the other side of the lake - Ngoc Son Temple

Ngoc Son Temple
There was a small entrance ticket fee to visit the temple - we gave it a miss as we didn't feel like exploring much. But it was interesting to see chinese texts around and the structure of the temple from outside.

The streets were getting vibrant we were approaching evening time!

Fifth stop was a dessert featured in Yoo Jae Suk's youtube channel - Ngọt Dessert By Diep

Ngọt - Dessert By Diep
The cheesecake was highly featured in the youtube video (Punghyanggo), so we carried back a few to try and give out as gifts back in Singapore (we bought cooler bags from Daiso in Busan). It was not very sweet, very mild taste with savory mozzarella cheese toppings. Very interesting combination that worked out well. I would recommend to give it a try - but I think it will be either a hit or miss depending your expectations of a cheesecake. The price was reasonable, around SGD$5-6 for quite a big share.

Sixth stop, a local cafe and art store - Gói Gém Cafe:

Gói Gém Cafe
They sells really cute souvenirs - which were great for gifts. And the drink was very interesting and tasty! They had some seats right outside the stall, so we do feel a little local sitting out there and enjoying people watching.

Last stop for the day - Hanoi Train Street

Hanoi Train Street
Phố đường tàu Hà Nội

We were feeling really tired that we couldn't wait for the train to pass by the tracks, but the whole place was quite up beat with plenty cafes and restaurants!

There was some food street just next to the train street, so if you're looking for something more local food, that will probably be a good choice to check out:

Next day - Back home!

It was quite a heartwarming morning. The hotel staff actually took down my birthday when I was checking in, and he wanted to provide me with complimentary breakfast the next day. When he realised we were taking an early flight, he took notes to prep a breakfast bag for me at 5am :')

And the morning hotel staff was shyly saying "Happy Birthday" hahaha! Although the breakfast bag had nothing fanciful but it definitely made me happy.

We had some time before boarding and we spotted a Pho stall:
Bigbowl

We didn't want to leave Vietnam without having Pho, so we paid for this expensive bowl of Pho that was tagged in USD (if you're paying in dong, they will do some conversion and let you know the price). I would rate a 3.5/5; average bowl just expensive.

It was a beautiful morning with the flight ready - no delays:

And decent flight meal back (ok veges were a little overcooked):

Thank you for joining us in our 10 days tour around Okinawa - Busan - Hanoi!
