[AU; 2026] Part 8 - Sydney | Exploring Parramatta City

Australia Long Trip | Part 8 - Sydney

Day 9

Checking in the hotel

I had to attend a meeting at Parramatta - hence I took an uber ride and headed down to this small city up the north. The hotel was nice - they allowed me to check-in early!

Meriton Suites Church Street, Parramatta
Many hotels in Parramatta are suites - so I got an one bed room apartment which was the most spacious room we got for the whole trip!

The living space had everything you need - kitchen, washer, dryer, tv and an ok sized washroom!

And the bed room was simple & cozy:

The only downside - the carpet floor was very dusty, but they didn't have indoor slippers :(

The hotel had an indoor & outdoor pool, plus a gym where I took a spare towel.

Sunset taken right at the room's balcony. Verdict - the hotel was okay, just bring your own indoor slippers.

Dinner at Harris Park

Harris Park
One of my local partners brought me to Harris Park to experience a different side of the city! There is an area next to the station where many Indian restaurants were located.

Jaipur Sweets Harris Park

They are renowned for its 100% pure desi ghee jalebi, served hot and crispy with Rabdi - it tasted sweet!

Dosa Hut Indian Restaurant Harris Park
We didn't get to try this restaurant - but was recommended by the local if you would like to experience good indian cuisine.

Next we tried Pani Puri, this stall was like some make-shift kind of place, toward the north-end along Wigram Street. It was a totally new experience for me, a new taste! If you like soupy tangy savory snacks, this will be something you should try.

Next we had MoMo, another make-shifted type of stall in the middle along Wigram Street. Definitely a dish that I would want to have again - it tasted like dumplings!

The last stop was a super sweet place:
Chatkazz Sweets & Namkeen
The whole place filled with colourful sweets!

I got to try these milk dessert - it was pretty sweet yet sinful at the same time.

It was definitely a great nights out!

Day 10

Shopping at Parramatta

I spent almost the whole day at work, and had a few hours to explore before all the shops close for the day - shopping was at a mall called Westfield Parramatta! It was huge that I couldn't finish checking all out.

I was lucky to join in a pokemon community event! And my photo was printed as a small part of the photo wall :)

It was so hard to find this in the city, but the mall had it:
Black Star Pastry Parramatta
I finally tried the watermelon cake after x number of attempts!!

Verdict - it is just a hype. Watermelon doesn't taste that great in cakes.

If you're an avid reader of my Australia trips - you will know I'm a big fan of Kmart and Target. The mall had both of them in the same building, perfect place for me.

If you're looking to print photos in Australia - I highly recommend this self-printing kiosk at Kmart. It was very reasonably priced, and you get to edit your photos on the spot. It costed less than $1.

Dinner along the river

Holy Basil Parramatta
We spotted this Thai restaurant next to our hotel, that was very crowded. The food portion was big, and the seafood was super nice.

Would recommend if you're staying nearby!

Next stop - some sweet dessert:
Gelato Messina Parramatta

There were quite a lot of flavours to choose from - would recommend to grab a scoop.

We ended the day walking around the Parramatta river:

There was some football event going on, so the river was decorated to hype up the games? It was rather strange....

This marks the end of my Australia trip - we left the next day early morning to the airport to catch the flight back home :)
