[AU; 2024] Melbourne | Ballarat

A day trip out of the city to Ballarat! We took a train from the Southern Cross station and paid using our transport card. The ride was less than 1.5 hours.

The view to Ballarat was amazing - the train went up the hill into the clouds and passing by the farmlands where you can spot sheep and horses.

First impressions of Ballarat after exiting the train station:

Refuel Hub

Had a nice brunch at this local cafe, the delicious food with nice service.

Art Gallery of Ballarat

Art Gallery of Ballarat

Stopped by the art gallery, some snippets:

Even the walls outside the gallery was very artistic!

Ballarat Wildlife Park

We took a local bus which stops directly at the wildlife park - it was convenient but the frequencies were not the best.

There was an entrance fee, but not super pricey, some photos of the park:

Koalas!!

Kangaroos!! And you get to feed them, which I don't recommend, most of them were not hungry. Beware - lots of birds over the kangaroo area to pick up the leftover food.
It was quite a challenge to find hungry kangaroos... hahaha!

Lake Wendouree Reserve

Ballarat Tramway Museum

As the weather looked gloomy... we used an uber chance to save some time waiting for the local bus.
Ballarat Tramway Museum
The entrance fee comes with free tram rides!

They had a nice pantry area that served some free hot tea!

Went for the tram ride after the rain went away:

They had a conductor that distributed the ticket in the old school way!

Hopped on another tram:

If you love trains and trams, I would highly recommend this place! If you're like me who just curious of everything, the tram ride as quite a nice view of the Lake Wendouree Reserve!

We stopped at the furthest stop away from the museum and started walking along the lake to the nearest street that has food stall - hungry!

Noodle Canteen Ballarat Wendouree

Great find on google map!

The hot noodles were perfect for the cold weather in Ballarat!

We rushed back to the train station using uber (we misread the train timing on google map...), but glad that we headed back at that timing so we could be back in the Melbourne city.. for supper!

Ubereat mala!

And some sweet red wine recommended by the locals

With fried chickens:

Perfect day out!
