[AU; 2024] Melbourne | South Melbourne Market \ St Kilda \ Brighton

Day out to explore the southern part of Melbourne city! And it is very easy to move around the area with the tram / bus services. It is not within the free zone so please get a transport card!

1. South Melbourne Market

South Melbourne Market

Strangely we didn't find this place on google map or guides and etc, instead we saw many people alighting the station and decided to follow.

It was crowded for the weekends - but not very very packed that you cannot move around.

Lots of seafood stalls - oysters time!
It was a fun time in the market - recommended!

2. St Kilda

Galleon Cafe

Galleon Cafe
It was a very very busy cafe with lots of vintage furniture, perfect spot for brunch!

Loved how clean their platings were!

Warm chocolate to keep me going for the day!
No doubts - recommend!

St Kilda Esplanade Market

St Kilda Esplanade Market
We were told how amazing the market was during weekend, with hundred over stalls to shop... but we only saw a handful of them open. Unsure was it the timing, but they were supposed to be opened until late afternoon.

A few good buys from the handmade stuffs, but overall it was rather disappointing, I won't recommend if you only have time in the afternoon to visit it.

Sightseeing around St Kilda

St Kilda Beach

Pretty beach that you can spot it from far!

It is also a place where you can spot little penguins - they can be spotted at the breakwater at the end of St Kilda pier, best viewing time is after sunset, and it happens every night I believe!

Palais Theatre

Palais Theatre is a very classic theatre that hosts many popular musical, and performance. I heard that the theatre interior is very impressive!

Luna Park

Luna Park which has the Great Scenic Railway! It is the oldest wooden roller coaster in the world. Such a pity that it was closed on that day I visited it.

But the entrance was quite impressive to take an IG photo.

High-tea

We wanted to have some cakes at Black Star Pastry to try the Strawberry Watermelon Cake... but they are sold out :(

The Acland Cake Shop

It doesn't have the best review on google, but the cakes around the shop makes it an interesting place to try out.

The food and beverage was average, but a good place to chill and chat with a friend or two. Beware there were birds flying around which made me nervous.

Brighton

Brighton Beach

Brighton beach

The famous bathhouses! And it is a must to take with the one with the Australia flag painted on it! (Ignore me in the photo :D)

The Baths Middle Brighton

We found a nice spot for dinner and to catch the sunset :)
The Baths Middle Brighton

The food was alright and the service was good. What was really gold was the sunset:

This ends the day trip perfectly!
