[KR; 2024] Day 6 - Solo Jeju | Jeongbang Waterfall \ Eoseungsaengak Trail \ Dongmun Market \ Donghandugi \ Jeju City

Day 6

Breakfast @ ź¹Øė—ķ•œģ§‘

I was so hungry as I didn't had dinner the previous night. Searched breakfast on google map and found this place was right infront of Hotel Kenny - which was where I was staying and the price was reasonable. It gave me a very local old school vibe,  everything was delicious, very homey. Perfect for breakfast!

Jeongbang Waterfall

Feeling energized after the good breakfast - time to take a walk! The app map recommended me an interesting route to Jeongbang Waterfall...

Interesting because, I need to cross the stream? And it doesn't seems to be a well taken route as I could feel brushing through spider webs and etc, and the pavements were not very well maintained. But surprisingly based on google map review, it was a popular place for locals to chill and soak their feet in the waters.

After some interesting walk through the park, paid the entrance ticket for the waterfall:

I'm gonna say I'm very lucky for a nice weather and the beautiful rainbow at the bottom of the fall šŸŒˆ

Seogwipo > Jeju City

Walked back to Hotel Kenny, checked out and took a bus to Jeju City! I booked an apartment this time round as I'm aware I need the washing machine, and it was very close to the airport too!

Urbanstay Jeju Airport ģ–“ė°˜ģŠ¤ķ…Œģ“ ģ œģ£¼ź³µķ•

The whole building is like an massive "airbnb" nest, where some companies bought a few units, another bought a few others etc.

Urbanstay had a strict check-in time, so they do have a self-service storage room for you to put your luggage. The room has CCTV covered, so you will be rest assured it will not be taken away by someone else. Some photos of the room I took in the evening:

It was a little "luxurious" for one person, but I figured out I need a good space towards the end of the trip to do laundry and unwind.

The location was really great - 7-11 just right below, the shopping street just across the street, airport in 15 minutes car ride. Plenty of buses around the areas and they go to the airport too. Just something that really bothered me was I actually had bad nightmares both nights, which was really very rare. But overall I would recommend!

Lunch

I had lunch at a random pork store that I don't even know what was the name hahaha. It tasted really average that I couldn't recommend it. I recalled the pork had so much fats that I ended up cutting them away because it felt really greasy.

Eoseungsaengak Trail

Took the local bus - 240, to hike the shortest trail of Hallasan! Stopped at the bus stop "Eorimok Entrance", and it takes another 15 minutes walk to the start of the hike. I recommend to go to the return bus stop and take a photo of bus timing so that you will not miss the bus, it can be a long wait. And based on the bus timing you can pace yourself a little.

The walk was quite pretty:

Start of the hike:

What I learned from hiking this trail, shortest route is not the easiest route. Many reviews mentioned that this route is suitable for beginners and etc, I need to clarify that "beginners" = people does hike but not regularly. I don't really hike often (only during my travels), so it was like a hiking crash course for me.The first quarter of the route where the stairs were steep was quite painful for me.

The middle portion was relatively easy to walk, which I used it was a "recovery". And the last quarter was again a torture. Thankfully the route and steeps were well constructed so it wasn't too dangerous.

Results of this bittersweet journey:

I guess the most important thing is to pace yourself, if you think you cannot do it, take it slowly. I used the bus timing as a motivation for me to keep hiking.

Dongmun Traditional Market

After a hike... I decided to head back to the city to explore the market!

It was definitely a local market that turned into a touristy market:

Being tourist, I bought some local snacks and food to bring back as gifts.

Dinner @ ģ•ˆė…•,ģ „ė³µ

On my way to dinner, I passed by this very traditional korean building. Not sure what it was but looked very cool - I didn't see much of such buildings in Jeju.

Note: They were located close to Dongmum market when I visited them, but now they have relocated to a new place superb close to the airport which reviews mentioned that you can have a good view of planes!

The lady owner was really very friendly, she recommended me based on what I liked and told me I need to try this Abalone Avocado Bibimbap! I was a little suspicious - how avocado can pair with abalone, I was so wrong. It was the most yummiest and luxurious bibimbap I ever had. I missing it so badly while typing this :')

Side story: The owner was very surprised with my Korean listening skills as I gave her a terrible impression with my nursery speaking skills. She said something really complicated like - they are closing for the day so she is cleaning the washroom soon, if I need the washroom please use it now. I had a confident boost that actually I'm not too bad in my Korean (listening).

Donghandugi

This area has a stretch of seafood and BBQ restaurants but I was there for the sunset!

Sunset was right in the middle!

You can also catch planes while watching the sunset, superb amazing place - still very hidden from tourists.

I took a small walk around the coastal area while the sunset do it's work:

The very last bit of the golden hour:

There was this famous ig ice cream place slightly further up:

I guess you need to come a little earlier in the day, they ran out of the Jeju orange ones:

Nuwemaru Street (Pedestrian Shopping Street)

Before heading back to the accommodation, I took a bus and I decided to drop by the shopping street - night was definitely still young compared to Seogwipo!

There was also a butter shop!
I just thought it was cute and walked in, shared with my sister, she immediately identified it was "Butter shop". I guess it is a Gen Z thing.

I was interested in this - Jeju series blind box! It was also a perfect gift for friends:
And yes I bought it - I got what I wanted, the Jeju's haenyeo (women divers)!

Ended the day with some soju with microwave fried chicken! Of course with some k-drama at the background.
