Taiwan Trip | Part 3 - Changhua & Taichung

Day 3

Getting Breakfast!

Decided to try another breakfast store:
幸福廚房

The egg crepe pancake texture wasn't the type that I liked - slightly more pan-fried and dry. I liked moist ones more. But the serving was definitely huge portions, really worth the price.

We engaged a private driver for a day tour around Changhua - Taichung. It was NT$4,600 for 8 hours.

It was a recommendation by google search AI two days before the trip, I texted them in the middle of the night and they replied promptly. I was impressed by it and decided to engage them based on this first impression. We were assigned to a female driver and she was very patient despite troubling her a few instances over the wheelchair. Highly recommended!!

We wanted to view the sunset at Gaomei - so our pickup time was at an awkward timing of 11:15am, and they accept the request.

#1 stop: Mt. Bagua Buddha Temple

I never been to Mt Bagua before and all I knew was the big buddha at the peak. The temple tried to be accessible with ramps, but it was very limited, still a portion of lifting required within the temple grounds.

Totally what I wanted to see:

Walked around the temple, and it was quite pretty:

There was also drawing of divine lots for NT$10:

It was a nice place to unwind and enjoy the quiet and serene atmosphere.

#2 stop: 大元蔴薯(鹹麻糬)

大元蔴薯(鹹麻糬)
A recommended local Changhua traditional snack from one of the Taiwan youtubers.

We got the mixed flavour set - the mochi was filled with savory ingredients such as stir-fry lean meat, red bean, peanut and a mixture of all 3. Yes meat!!! It was so yummy that we couldn't stop eating it. The best Taiwanese snacks I ever had. Too bad you can only keep them for 3 days.

We also got the Taro pastry, it tasted really good after microwave:

#3 stop: Lukang Old Street

Lukang Old Street 鹿港老街
We got some drinks and small snacks while looking for a lunch spot:

I was too hungry that I randomly picked a store nearby - it was a bad decision as I looked it up on googlemap and they only had 2 stars.

The food was off, taste doesn't seems right. Bad decision made for the day.

After lunch we roamed around the old street and the nearby attractions:

And picked up some desserts to make the afternoon happier:

#4 stop: Taiwan Husheng Temple & Taiwan Glass Gallery

Before heading over to Gaomei Wetlands, we added in this temple and glass gallery into the itinerary. Both locations were located at a small industry area, next to each other.
Taiwan Glass Gallery 臺灣玻璃館

We arrived close to the closing hours, so there was pretty much not much people, and it was weekday. There was a gold glass tunnel which has a small entrance fee of NT$100 - we didn't go for it. But lots of glass gifts and local traditional snacks that you can purchase.

Taiwan Husheng Temple 玻璃媽祖廟-台灣護聖宮

It was a temple built using many glass... it was so pretty, especially the glass mountain background:

There was also a small merchandise corner where you can purchase a pack of noodles for NT$100, which donates back to the temple. We got a few from there and it tasted good.

Random flowers outside the temple!

There were some random stuffs around the area:

And we were extremely lucky to watch a Taiwanese variety filming:
My parents were big fans of this variety show called 綜藝大集合 - I randomly told them maybe we will get to see them filming, but I never expected it to come true!

We can be spotted in this episode! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gta6cmJEEOc

#5 stop: Gaomei Wetlands

One of the best sunset places in Taiwan:
Gaomei Wetlands 高美野生動物保護區
It was still so pretty as it was before, still a recommended place to catch sunset :')

This basically was around 7+ hours and our driver drove us back to the hotel.

Dinner!

So my parents didn't want to leave the hotel for dinner and my mum was not feeling well (remember the clams in Part 2?). Packed some dinner from a nearby family run restaurant - the owners were superb nice:
不惑小廚

The dinner spread for the night:

The dishes were super yummy, and the portions were very generous! Recommend the pineapple prawns and milkfish! I probably will return back if I ever visit Taichung again. This marks the end of the long day!
