National Taiwan Museum of Comics 國家漫畫博物館
  • Ride from Fengchia to Museum of Comics: NT$265, 27 minutes journey
  • Accessibility: The grounds were not exactly wheelchair friendly, but was flat to push around the open space.

There were many open spaces to relax, and the Japanese colonial-era buildings creates that zen atmosphere. There were a few exhibitions ongoing, and it was quite fun to just roam around.

The trees over here felt really old:

And they have this popular ig tree that everyone was taking photos with:

It does add some nice touch to the museum!

#2 stop of City Tour - Taichung Second Market

The weather seems ok, so we decided to take a walk over to the second market:

Walking should be approximately 20 minutes, but with wheelchair we took 40 minutes. Taichung city wasn't exactly has the best street pavements for wheelchair, but it was doable.

Taichung Second Market 臺中市公有第二零售市場

It seems to be a Taiwanese favourite market - quite many locals during a weekday! This a map of the market:

We turned in a small alley and started to look for good food - no research done beforehand:

We saw this crowded store and decided to queue for it:
Arashi Braised Minced Pork 嵐肉燥專賣店

The stall was not wheelchair friendly, but the staff helped to make sure we got the external tables so that we can slide the wheelchair in. Seating was very limited, so it’s best to arrive before the peak lunch crowd otherwise it will be quite a long wait.

We ordered both the rice and the noodles for comparison, and honestly the rice was better. They used lean meat, so it doesn't taste too greasy and matched well with the rice more than the noodles. The meat slices on the rice were tender and so good, I would totally come back for this bowl of rice! The soup was alright and it goes well with the noodles.

丸先鮮魚行
We spotted this fish stall (it was just right opposite the minced pork), and bought some fish floss back home. The owners were very friendly, and the floss went well with rice. Recommend too!

Lai's Tea Shop 老賴紅茶

We noted many people were buying drinks from this stall so we followed the trend. Their drinks were more old-fashioned, yet refreshing for the weather! It wasn't too expensive, would recommend if you spot them at the corner of the market!

There was a food court in a corner of the market - with more spacious seats and etc, if you don't like to squeeze in the small stall to have your meals, these food court stalls will be a great alternatives.

#3 stop of City Tour - Lalaport Taichung North

Lalaport 台中 北館
  • Ride from Second Market to Lalaport: NT$90, 12 minutes journey
  • Accessibility: Superb wheelchair friendly, but the mall doesn't have a designated pickup / drop off area which was a bit inconvenient.
The mall wasn't superb big, perfect for an afternoon walk:

We had a afternoon tea break at this chain restuarant:
Dimdimsum 點點心 LaLaport台中
It's a Hong Kong style cafe (cha chaan teng), with a little Taiwanese twist.

And had some desserts too:

It was quite reasonably priced, approx NT$1,000 or less. The food was delicious, it wasn't crowded on a weekday so we got to enjoy and chill out.

After a tea break, we spent another 2-3 hours around the mall - there are two building North and South.

Sunset took at the mall!

The mall stores were all tax free, and it was easy to get the tax refund admin process done over the mall counter.

#4 stop of City Tour - Fengchia Night Market (again)

  • Ride from Lalaport to Fengchia: NT$300, 35 minutes journey

CHI YUAN Fengchia Shop 季緣 逢甲店

The shop interior looks like a legit museum. Which was a bit unique in the middle of the night market where everything was busy and messy.

We tried their seasonal drink and it was quite special. Definitely worth another try with their normal drinks.

Another round of snacking - this 丁香深海旗魚串 would fall in my list of recommendations:

This 黃記麻油雞 was still ok - just that the staff were quite disorganised, so the experience was meh.

The rest of these stall would be not recommended:

These fried chicken cutlet tasted like overnight chicken meat.

The prawns were claimed to be shell-less, but it was overcooked making it hard to peel, and doesn't have much meat.

This marks the last night in Taichung!
