[TH; 2023] Day 4 - Bangkok | Chinatown \ Jay Fai \ Moomin Cafe \ JODD Fairs
Starting Day 4 with a super nice weather!
1. Chinatown
Visited a couple of place in Chinatown to get stuff! First stop - Khao Moo Daeng Si Morakot ข้าวหมูแดงสีมรกต to get chinese sausages!
They were quite busy in the morning, recommend to try their roasted meats together with their chinese sausage!
Next stop - to their traditional market to get some dried good!
After the market, we decided to walk over and try our luck with Raan Jay Fai - the famous Netlix / Michelin store. We managed to squeeze our names into the waiting list, instead of waiting outdoors, we crossed the road to a cafe for desserts.
It was a retro interior and we were quite surprised that the cafe was empty!
Their dessert and teas were good and of course the aircon helped a lot to cool us down. Tip: We were able to spot the queue number from Raan Jay Fai in the cafe using our phone x30 zoom.

Tip: The signage may indicate they are not giving anymore queue number, but spot for this list, it will appear from nowhere and be the first few to write your name on it!

We ordered a few must-try based on reviews:
Crab Omelette - it was filled with crab meat, so definitely worth the price paidCurry Prawn - the prawns were big and juicy, but the sauce tasted hmm
Crab fried rice - rather average dish...
Drunken noodles - this was quite interesting and I liked the chewy noodles!
This meal was quite a big damage to our wallets, everything here was like SGD 40 - 50, hence 4 dishes were close to SGD 200! For a street food, definitely overpriced. And the wait was super long because they only have one chef - which is the lady owner.
2. Walking around Thong Lor
We took a grab from Jay Faai back to our hotel - and to our horror it took an hour! It was not a peak hour but plenty of cars around the area. Dropped off our loots from Chinatown and walked around Thong Lor!
It was quite a fun walk - we entered a random night market which was more for the locals.
And had a good sunset view on one of the bridges.
3. Moomin cafe
Moomin cafe
A little story here - I became a Moomin fan after visiting a Moonmin cafe in Bangkok 6 years back. So it is a must to visit the "new" Moomin cafe in Bangkok.
The staff were very friendly - there was a miscommunication and one of the order got wrong, and without saying anything they immediately changed. We thought it was a free change, until we saw one of the staff taking out money from her own wallet and gave us the money to compensate us on the difference. We were like... hmm this doesn't seems right, so we gave her a tip to cover what she took from wallet.
4. JODD FAIRS Rama 9
Last stop for the day - a night market!
JODD FAIRS Rama 9
It was very touristy compared to the Indy Night Market we went on Day 1.
Despite being touristy, food was still affordable and quite a lot things to see! Would recommend if you are planning to be somewhere nearby.
