[JP; 2025] Day 4 - Okinawa | Kokusai Street

Day 4

Our last full day in Okinawa, and we spent it all on Kokusai Street! Kokusai Street is the shopping street in the city which stretches quite long. We made a few stops here and there throughout the day, and one of the ends of the street was 15 mins walk away from our hotel

TRIP CRAFT NAHA

We didn't plan much of Okinawa as it was supposed to be a long healing layover trip, but we loved the city so much - especially the Shisa (The Guardian Lions of Okinawa)! We saw this activity on klook and thought it was perfect gift to bring home.
Kokusai Street Handmade Experience (Naha)
We were a little late but the staff was friendly and allowed us in. They were quite limited in communicating in English. The store was quite packed with people in the morning - mainly family with kids!

We chose the painting experience and we get to choose our pre-made Shisa off the shelves.

This was my Shisa (before):

My painted Shisa (after):

Getting one Shisa as gift will probably also cost that much amount of money, so it was quite practical and fun way to get one to bring home :>

Calbee+

Calbee+
A must shop place for all the potato snacks!

And we got the freshly cooked sweet potatoe fries - yummy!

Fukusuke Tamago

We walked into an alley of shops - like a market, to find the popular Tamago!

It was quite an easy find among the shops:
Fukusuke Tamago
福助の玉子焼き 市場本通り店
We placed our orders quickly before the big crowd came in:

Watching the tamago being cooked while waiting for our numbers:

After 10-15 mins, we got our orders:

It was so yummy - the egg was so thick, the spam was so fried - recommend!

Naha Shiritsu Tsuboyayakimono Museum

We were waiting for another food stall to be opened, so we popped in a nearby museum:

Naha Shiritsu Tsuboyayakimono Museum
那覇市立壺屋焼物博物館
There was a very small entrance fee which didn't hurt much.

Shisa!

The museum was mainly around pottery and how it evolved over time:

It was quite a cool place to just hang out, chill and walk around if you have an hour to spare (or to hide from the heat).

Takoya Honten Naha Matsuo

This was the food stall that opened at 2:30pm.
Takoya Honten Naha Matsuo
蛸屋本店那覇松尾店 (合同会社琉球大阪/蛸屋グループ)

As the exterior and interior looked very old japanese vibe eatery, I was very surprised that all the staff were foreigners. It was good in a sense that we could order properly in English, but still!!

They were popular for their Takoyaki:
Takoyaki was perfectly cooked on the outside, fluffy, yet mushy inner fillings. The sauce and spring onion can be a little overwhelming, but all matched well!

Fukugiya

We stopped by this another popular store that sells baumkuchen cake!
The store smelt very nice~ we got one to bring back to Singapore (it is able to last for more than a week)

Blue Seal Palette Kumoji

Blue Seal Palette Kumoji
ブルーシール パレットくもじ

There were blue seal everywhere in Okinawa but we only tried it at the very last day - which doesn't do justice to the yummy ice cream! Definitely a must try!!

It was weekend and the street roads were closed during certain hours to the human crowd - happy buying and we walked back to the hotel to put down the loots and rest our feet. (I didn't mention about Donki above, but I'm sure you know Donki is a must shop place in anywhere Japan).

Kokusai Street Food Village

Kokusai Street Food Village
国際通り屋台村
We headed back to Kokusai Street again after a short break at the hotel. And came to this popular night food spot. There were plenty of small stalls that you can grab a table and order some table:

It was rather packed and we stopped by this stall which had seats:
The bbq food was great - the cabbage pork was the best. But it was also quite pricey which hurt our pockets quite a bit. We didn't do proper research but there were other stalls which seems to serve yummier food and wider varieties.

These didn't fill our tummies so went to family mart to buy supper that night - with our favourite bittergourd!

Leaving Okinawa with amazing memories :)
